The Origin
Why MSK Exists
Shawna is a storyteller, a mother, a daughter, and a woman who found herself standing in the middle of two generations at the same time.
Caring for her mother.
Raising her daughter.
Holding the emotional weight of both.
Before MSK became a movement, a framework, a community, or an ecosystem, it began as a personal truth: No woman should have to carry life alone.

A Letter From Our Founder
To the women who carry more than anyone knows…
My Sister's Keeper™ was not created in a boardroom or from a business plan.
It was created when I realized I was caring for both my mother and my daughter — coordinating, remembering, protecting, soothing, and becoming the person everyone relied on.
I had support, yes. Family. But the emotional load still lived in my body.
I went searching for language to describe what I was experiencing. I found the term “sandwich generation,” but it did not tell the whole truth. It did not fully capture the emotional weight, the identity shift, the exhaustion, the responsibility, or the way your nervous system quietly becomes the family's anchor.
I struggled to find a place for women like me — women holding generations while trying not to lose themselves in the process.
And then I remembered something.
For years, my social media name was Sisters Keeper. Not as a brand, but as an identity. A truth I had been living long before I ever named it.
I built MSK™ because I needed a place where I could exhale, be witnessed, be supported, be understood, and feel emotionally safe. I have always believed that if I am searching for something, there are others searching too.

My Why
As I watched my mother's world soften as her sight changed, I felt the mantle of matriarch slowly shifting toward me. I found myself wondering: Are other women experiencing this shift — from being the daughter who is cared for to becoming the daughter who helps provide that care? How are they navigating it? Where are they finding support? Who is holding them while they hold everyone else?
I built MSK because I wanted my daughter to grow up in a world where emotional intelligence is normal, not rare. A world where women choose connection over competition, where support and belonging are not exceptions, but expectations.
I built MSK because I wanted women to have language for what their bodies already know.
And because I did not want any woman to carry her life alone.
Lineage
My Daughter, My Mother, My Lineage
My daughter is the reason I dream forward. My mother is the reason I remember backward. Between them is where I stand — the bridge, the carrier, the keeper.
My daughter taught me softness.
My mother taught me strength.
Together, they taught me balance.
MSK is the space where those lessons live.

The elephant became part of MSK because elephants carry the language of memory, protection, matriarchal wisdom, and collective care.
They remember.
They grieve.
They protect.
They return for one another.
They do not leave the wounded behind.
In MSK, the herd is not a metaphor for a group. It is a way of being.

Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Shawna serves as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of My Sister's Keeper Collective LLC, providing the vision and strategic leadership for the organization's mission, growth, and long-term impact. As the creative force behind the movement, she also leads the storytelling, educational initiatives, community architecture, and brand experience that shape every part of the MSK ecosystem.
Every initiative within the MSK ecosystem — from Gatherings and FriendKeeper™ to Sound Culture™, Community Impact, and Shop MSK™ — reflects her commitment to creating spaces where women and girls feel seen, supported, safe, and empowered to become.
